555 Horses: Take 'em or Leave 'em

555 Clothing and Design
LOLA

As an equestrian, I’m always into seeing horse-culture inspired clothes and accessories.

Although you pay more for it, and you wear it serving no purpose to its actual use,  you still look good in my books.

Oh yeah!  Zorro what up?  Who says you can’t pair a chest plate with a crop and call it fashion?

Or this li'l gem!

Field boots, with lunge whip belt and a one piece jodper riding pant suit, in the colour tan, of course.

Love how the runway is made to look like paddock footing for the lovely ladies to trot down.

I would like to see these little fashionistas do this with their newly bought fashion riding apparel.

Heels down!

How does the saying go... save a horse ride a cowboy? what does that even mean?

Nothing beats the hot and trendy cowboy!  Add a fringe and some sparkle and you got it down to a science.

Although it serves no function in the real riding world, it sure is nice to look at!

555 Inspiration : Jem and the Holograms Sure Know How to Party !!

555 Clothing and Design
LEE LEE

Everybody knows fashion is cyclical. It goes round and round and round, picking up slight silhouette changes as it goes. It was only a matter of time before our childhood fashion crimes came back to haunt us. But this time around, we are older, wiser and more confident!

This spring I'm going to embrace my love of Jem and her besties, the Holograms. Tight hot pink dress paired with pastel tights? Fuck ya! You better believe I'm going to be wearing a silver tassel belt too!

Okay wait, maybe not so much... But I'll definitly steal some hot elements from these classy broads.
It's all about neon, animal prints in non traditional colours, high boots and coloured tights.

I know we've always been told one print is enough, but that just isn't so!
Mix it up, get crazy and wear multiple prints in one outfit..It's going to be hard to break your preconceived notions, but I promise it's going to be a good time. Try to ease into it with stripes and polkadots in one look. Next time get super sassy and throw something floral into the mix.
Jem has so many bffs that there's a girl out there for everyone.. Emulate her style this spring, and I guarantee the party is never gunna stop.

I can't even begin to tell you how badly I want this bow dress!!
Oh Jem, yer so Truly Truly Truly amazing ! (okay that was cheeese)

555 High-Waisted Jeans: JYD big ups to RARA's Camel Toe

555 Clothing and Design
JYD

Big ups Ra Ra!!

Wear those girls high even though some may criticize.

I cannot count the number of comments I have received over the high-waisted jeans I wear.  Girls, I say, bodies are hot.  Why not show them off?  What are these big mouthed haters of the high waisted jeans afraid of?

There is nothing more hot and fashionable than breaking it up and there is nothing more rock'n roll than not givin' a shit.

Yeah babies bringing it back!!  70s high-waisted pants are one of the many reasons I love the 70s (and early 80s).  'Cus women looked like women in the media and fashion, and curves was what was hot.

Let us not forget girls Joan jet says it best.   Plus she knows how to rock the high-waisted jeans.

555 Inspiration: Peggy Bundy

555 Clothing and Design
RA RA

Peg Bundy's a hot bitch.

And I gotta admit she's influenced 555's spring line.

Tiger prints, off the shoulder tops, cinched waists....really really not mad at it.

I wanted to do gold spandex in homage of Peg, but, maybe next time.

555 Clothing and Design
RA RA

Don't be shy of what ya got, ladies.

This year is gonna be all about flaunt and that includes tight seams in the crotch area.

So when you think you can't get your zipper done up on that pair of GWGs you found second hand, just say,

 "WHERE ARE THOSE PLIERS??!!"

555 Toronto Vintage Shop: Public Butter

The Public Butter - 1290 Queen St. West, Toronto ON
555 Clothing and Design
SHI SHI

After a meeting with the video director guy at 555 Richmond St. Toronto, HK headed over to The Cadillac Lounge for a meeting with the manager dude.  We had some time to kill between meetings so Robature III suggested we check out The Public Butter, an awesome vintage shop right beside the Cadillac on Queen St. west.

The shop was open late and there was a great big sale sign in the front window.  What more could you ask for?!

Let's see what we've got here.... Silk screened rock T's and the obligatory printed baby rocker gear placed neatly on the table near the front.  The store was studded with retro furniture including the sweet green leather sofa in the front window.

This tasseled yellow shirt and sequin encrusted blouses were priced at just under $20

Scarf Display

No self respecting vintage shop would be complete without some sweet scarves and belts.  These accessories can take a dull and drab outfit to the next level.

Belts: skinny, stretchy and studded

Skinny, stretchy and studded, all the belts were priced at $20.  There were some real charmers in this collection let me tell you.

Buffalo Check in green, red, blue and black

All winter clothes, including fur and sheepskin coats were half off.  This lovely collection of wool buffalo check were on offer for 10 bucks a piece.  Some vintage L.L. Bean anyone?

The shop's prices were reasonable and the selection was well organized and diverse for both guys and gals.  The sale prices were definitely an incentive to pick up some cozy winter gear despite the promise of springs near arrival.

This rocker will definitely be taking another churn at the Public Butter in the near future.

Bonus Track:  JYD takes this casual Sunday look and makes it go the distance: a buffalo check shirt paired with a carefully chosen pirate scarf.

555 GRRL: Brigitte Bardot

555 Clothing and Design
Margot

Quite a departure from our last loose and rawkin’ lady--Wendy O--our next installment of 555 GRRL spotlights the iconic French star Brigitte Bardot.

555 is smitten with this kitten, even though it may not be because of her career. We know she was in some movies, did some modelling, and that she dabbled in pop music. She began to gain popularity in America as early as the 1950s (!) and has since haunted our fashion subconscious.

Her legacy is nothing to be scoffed at. Ladies, you may not have been struttin’ your beach bods in bikinis if it weren’t for this gal. Or baring your shoulders in loosely draped tops. She had a hand in making gingham popular too-- she wore a pink gingham wedding dress for Pete’s sake!

I would also like to note some of her more daring fashion choices, like the cut-out chainmail minidress and matching headdress she rocks (or rather, chimes) in this video. Makes you think Kate Bush, doesn't it? Only this is from 1967!

But personally, my favourite thing about Bardot is her ability to make you salivate even in just a pair of corduroys and a rough-knit sweater.

555 is on the lookout for a GRRL after every girl's heart.

555 Girls with Guns: The Girl Who Came From Vietnam

555 Clothing and Design
RA RA

Frankly, I can't get enough of girls with guns.

So when I saw this old Thai movie poster in a bar last night, I was highly thrilled.

Uber booty shorts with a belt, little wrestling boots, leather jacket and--a gun.

I don't know what the movie is called--cuz I'm entirely Thai illiterate--but she is The Girl Who Came From Vietnam (peak between her legs...).

Bad Ass.

Reminded me of a poster for a party-series held in Bangkok by Zudrangma Records, Paradise Bangkok.

555 Clothing and Design will not deny you of your desire to wield guns and booty shorts.

555 Delight: Hard Pink Plastic

555 Clothing and Design

Shopping in a northern Thai street market has brought me this 555 Delight.

Hard. Pink. Plastic. Bow.

I love bows and ribbons.  But one that's a plastic clip?  YES!
I will make sure to pair it with something tight and black.

555 GRRL: Wendy O Williams

Feburary 4, 2010
RA RA 555

555 would like to start a 555 GRRL series, givin' ups and homage to women that really inspire us to be rock-steady broads.

And to kick it off, the first 555 GRRL has to go to Wendy O Willliams, singer for the 70s/80s punk/metal band, The Plasmatics.

As someone long into punk, especially anything that came outta America in the 70s/80s, I was highly ashamed to not be familiar with Wendy O until last month.

Lame.

This broad knocked the socks off her hoards of fans by feeling herself up, wielding chainsaws, blowing shit up, all on stage, while singing heavy anti-establishment tunes.

And for the fashion realm, she has been credited with rockin' the first female mohawk.

I totally dig the leopard tights and high-blonde pony-tail with shaved sides.

I like this vid cuz it is a kool example of 555 moto 'Punk Romance,' bad-ass n sweet. Blow up a car while wearing pink high-waisted jeans and a white pop-top.  YES!

Way to rock, Wendy. RIP.

Look out for more female mohawk and head shaving art posts, gonna get hotter, I guarantee.
